Luigi Bizzotto's name is the one attached to what Virtus did in 2024 and 2025: a Coppa Titano and a Super Coppa. Before him, the club's ceiling had been a fourth-place finish under Bruno Piscaglia back in 1979–80, and for decades after that a top-flight place in the Campionato Sammarinese di Calcio without a relegation was the club's main claim on the record books.

The team traces back to Robur, a local side from the late 1950s that Virtus effectively replaced when it formed in 1964 under its first president, Fernando Bindi.

A season earlier they had already broken through by winning the league for the first time and beating Tre Penne in the Super Coppa. Alessandro Golinucci and Mattia Ceccaroli, both San Marino internationals, have been part of that side, along with goalkeeper Mirco De Angelis.

Continental football has followed. Virtus were eliminated early by HŠK Zrinjski Mostar in this season's UEFA Champions League qualifying, then went the other way in the Europa Conference League, beating FC Milsami Orhei home and away to reach the playoff round — a first for any San Marino club — before Breiðablik ended the run.
