They created just as many big opportunities as Guabirá, yet failed to convert when it mattered. Guabirá's third goal came from Gustavo Peredo in the 52nd minute, a moment that effectively killed the contest. We had backed Guabirá at 50 per cent confidence, and the match played out exactly as we expected. A team that has struggled in recent weeks — losing six of their last eight — found a way to grind out a result. They were caught in possession a couple of times, but their defensive shape held firm. Henry Vaca and Ivan Huayhuata picked up bookings for Aurora, while Juan Carlos Parada and Milton Maciel went to the referee later on.
The statistics tell you what you already know from watching. Aurora had 59 per cent possession and 110 attacks to Guabirá's 55, but shots accuracy tells the real story. Guabirá hit 40 per cent of their shots on target compared to 25 per cent for the visitors. Four shots on target each, but only three found the net for the hosts.
