AS Soliman

Soliman sits on the Cap Bon peninsula, a stretch of Tunisia known for farmland and coastline more than football, and for most of its history the town's team has made its business in the divisions where such towns play. AS Soliman has spent the bulk of its life working through Ligue V, IV and III, taking regional titles at each level — 1965, 1991 and 2013 in Ligue IV, 1982 and 2017 in Ligue III, 2007 in Ligue V — the kind of record that shows a club climbing the same stairs more than once rather than one that broke through and stayed.

The name itself changed shape along the way: founded in 1960 as Avenir Populaire de Soliman, it became Avenir Sportif de Soliman in 2009, keeping the initials ASS that still stand in for a proper nickname. The clearest sign of progress came in 2019, when the club won Ligue II, its highest honour to date. A run to the quarter-finals of the Coupe de Tunisie in 2020–21 stands as the closest it has come to disturbing the country's established order in the cup.

Espérance de Tunis has treated Soliman as something of a finishing school for its fringe players in recent years, loaning out the likes of Kebba Sowe and, in 2025, Jack Diarra, alongside others such as Rached Arfaoui and Aymen Mahmoud — a pipeline that says more about Espérance's squad depth than about Soliman's own development, but one that has kept useful players moving through the Stade Municipal de Soliman regardless. Locally, the rivalry that matters is with AS Marsa, the other club sharing the Cap Bon region, while matches against US Tataouine carry the label Derby du Sud-Est, a fixture defined more by geography than by history between the two.

Whatever else has changed, the club has stayed rooted in the region that gave it its name, working its way up from the lower leagues of the Tunisian pyramid where it began in 1960.
