Ayia Napa

Two clubs from the same corner of the Famagusta district, APEAN and ENAN, merged to give the town its own single football team, Ayia Napa FC. The merger was completed on 14 July 1990.

The colours settled on orange, black and white, and the nickname that followed, The Oranges.

The Municipal Stadium of Ayia Napa holds 2,000, and that was not enough when the club reached the First Division for the 2006–07 season: the ground failed to meet top-flight licensing rules, so home games that year were moved to the Tasos Markou Stadium in neighbouring Paralimni.

Two Second Division titles, in 2011–12 and 2013–14, mark the club's best spell in the league, but the run still talked about locally came a few years earlier, in the 2007–08 Cypriot Cup, when Ayia Napa, still a Second Division side, beat both APOEL and Aris Limassol in the group stage on the way to the quarter-finals.

Danijel Pranjić, who had played for Bayern Munich and Croatia, wore the shirt in 2019–20.

Enosis Neon Paralimni remains the closest rival, the two clubs sharing the Famagusta district and meeting in what locals treat as a derby whenever the fixture list puts them in the same division.
