Campos AA

Campos dos Goytacazes sits inland from the Rio de Janeiro coast. Campos Atlético Associação, known to its supporters as Roxinho, was put together by Ângelo de Carvalho and his son-in-law Wanderley Barreto, the club's first president, with Fernando Alberto Muri and Jorge Muniz Filho on 26 October 1912.

The club moved grounds twice before settling — first in Coroa, where it picked up the old mascot the Lion of the Crown, then in Caju, and finally at Parque Leopoldina. The stadium built there, now named for the founder, opened on 29 July 1951 with a match against Botafogo.

Five Campeonato Campista titles, spread from 1918 to 1976, mark the club's standing in municipal football. It came back through a partnership with Carapebus Futebol Clube, winning the Campeonato Carioca Série C, before the arrangement ended in 2017 and Roxinho returned to competing under its own name in the Rio de Janeiro Football Federation.
