EC Resende

In 2014 Resende won two trophies: the Copa Rio and the Campeonato Carioca Série A2. The second took the club up to the top tier of Rio de Janeiro state football for 2015. It then won the Copa Rio again in 2015, so the cup went to the same club in back-to-back years.

Those seasons stand apart from what came before and after. After the 2006 stint in the Terceira Divisão, where EC Resende finished third in its group and went out in the second phase, the club re-registered with the state federation on 31 January 2017 and started again in the Campeonato Carioca Série C. In 2018 it reached the quarter-finals and lost to Campo Grande. Goalkeeper Jorge Luiz was named the competition's Revelation in 2017 after saving five of six penalties, and he moved on to Democratas-GV. Forward Marcudo went to Volta Redonda, and midfielder Jairinho was looked at by Bangu.

In May 2021 the club pulled out of the Série C after its president, Ricardo Ferreira, died of COVID-19. Activities resumed in 2022. The Série C title has not come since. The club finished fifth in 2024 and reached the semi-finals in 2025, the same year its under-17 side won the state title in the fifth division. In March 2026 the club was approved to change its name to Rio Barra Futebol Clube Ltda., keeping the same tax registration and federation affiliation.

The name Resende causes some confusion locally. Resende Futebol Clube, founded in 1909, is the older and better-known side, and the two are treated as rivals in the Sul Fluminense region. The Leão da Serra, who play at the 10,500-capacity Estádio do Trabalhador and wear white, red and yellow, with recent kits leaning on blue and yellow, date only from 2 July 2003.
