Kozármisleny sits just south of Pécs, in Baranya, when the club took shape and gave the town its own line in the Hungarian league pyramid. For over a decade that meant county football, nothing more, until the 2001–02 season brought the Baranya county championship and a first ticket into NB III.

The breakthrough came five years later. Winning the Dráva group of NB III in 2006–07 put Kozármisleny into NB II for the first time, a level the club has since treated as home rather than ceiling — dropping out twice and fighting back both times, most recently through a 2021–22 group title. The closest it has come to going further was two second-place finishes in the West group, in 2011–12 and 2012–13, seasons that also saw the club tie itself formally to Pécsi MFC, the bigger name up the road.

Survival has mattered as much as promotion. In 2022–23, a 16th-place finish should have sent the club back down, but Kozármisleny stayed up by beating Iváncsa in the play-off, losing the first leg 0–1 at home before winning the return 3–0. The following season brought the opposite mood entirely: a 7–0 defeat of BFK Siófok, on the way to fifth place. Matyás Csucsi took over as head coach in 2025, with the team coming off a fourth-place finish in the 2024–25 autumn table.

Few players have carried the club's name beyond Baranya. Ádin Molnár spent the 2023–24 season on loan from MTK Budapest before moving on to represent Hungary's under-21 side, a rare case of Kozármisleny serving as a stepping stone rather than a destination. Locally, the fixture that stirs the town is against Szentlőrinc; on the county map, the rivalry carries more weight than the club's results in NB II ever have. What Kozármisleny has never done, in almost four decades, is push beyond the second tier.
