Two finals in eight months, both against the same opponent, both lost. Academia Puerto Cabello went down 0-1 to Carabobo FC in the Torneo Clausura decider in 2025, then 1-2 to Carabobo again in the Torneo Apertura final in 2026.

It began as something other than a first team. A youth academy was set up in Puerto Cabello in January 2011 as a non-profit venture, and it was only on 13 June 2014 that a professional club was registered on top of it. That side entered the Venezuelan third division and worked upwards — third to second, and in 2018 into the Primera División, where it has stayed. No mergers, no change of name in between.

Home is the Complejo Deportivo Socialista, known locally as La Bombonerita. The dark blue shirt with orange trim gives the club its colours; the away kit is plain white.

The cup has been less kind than the league. In 2024 the team reached the last 16 of the Copa Venezuela and drew 0-0 with Zamora FC, who went on to win the competition, before losing the shoot-out. A year later the same round ended the run again, this time against Monagas SC.

The nicknames stack up — Los Guerreros del Fortín, La Academia, Los Porteños.
