Gazelle

Stade Annexe 1 Omnisport seats two thousand, a modest figure for a ground in Yaoundé, a city where Canon Yaoundé and Tonnerre Kalara Club have filled far larger stands for decades. Gazelle FC has made this small enclosure its base, shuttling between Cameroon's Elite One and Elite Two rather than settling into either division for long.

Little survives from the club's early years beyond fixture lists, and no honours are recorded against its name. What the record shows instead is a run of matches against sides that, like Gazelle, work the divisions outside the country's best-known clubs: Aigle Royal de Moungo, Stade Renard, Fovu Club, and PWD among them, along with occasional meetings with Cotonsport and Fauve Azur Elite. It is a football life built on the second tier as much as the first.

Sharing Yaoundé with Canon and Tonnerre Kalara Club gives Gazelle its natural rivalries, drawn more from geography than from any documented history between the sides. No derby name attaches itself to these fixtures, but matches against either club carry more weight in the city than the rest of Gazelle's Elite One and Elite Two calendar.
