About

The Turkish Basketball Cup, formally known as the Basketbol Erkekler Türkiye Kupası, is a domestic knockout tournament for men’s basketball. Founded in 1967, it replaced the Turkish Basketball Championship and is organized by the Turkish Basketball Federation (TBF). The competition operates independently of the league pyramid tiers, running alongside the top-flight Basketball Super League (BSL). After a hiatus from 1973 to 1991, the tournament resumed its annual cycle.

The current format involves the top eight teams from the first half of the BSL regular season. These clubs compete in a single-elimination structure that begins with quarterfinals played as single matches. The tournament concludes with a Final Four comprising semifinals and the final, held at a neutral venue. The host city for this concluding stage changes each year; recent editions were staged in Konya and Şanlıurfa. Qualification is restricted exclusively to BSL teams, meaning second-division TBL clubs do not participate.

Anadolu Efes holds the record for the most titles with 12 wins, while Fenerbahçe has secured 10 championships. Notable historical performances include Ülker’s 32-point victory over Pınar Karşıyaka in the 2004–05 final. Streaks of dominance have also occurred, with both Anadolu Efes and Ülker achieving consecutive victories in separate eras. The competition is distinct from the Turkish Basketball Presidential Cup, a single-match pre-season fixture between the previous season’s league champion and cup winner. While the Super Cup takes place in September or October, the Turkish Basketball Cup is played mid-season, typically concluding in February or March. Fenerbahçe Beko entered the 2025 season as the defending champion following their victory in the 2024 edition.
