Arka Gdynia

Arka started out in 1995 as STK Trefl Sopot, across the bay, and only moved into Gdynia in 2009, by which point the roll of championships was already half written.

That championship run is the reason the club matters: nine straight Polish titles between 2004 and 2012, a stretch built while the team still carried sponsor names like Prokom and Asseco rather than the city's own. Four Polish Cups and two Super Cups came alongside it, but it is the nine in a row that separates Arka from the rest of Polish basketball.

The club has changed its name almost as often as its sponsors changed their minds — Prokom Trefl, Asseco Prokom, Asseco Gdynia, Suzuki Arka — and only settled on Arka Gdynia as the public-facing identity after the move. Through all of it, the yellow and blue stayed, and the supporters still call the team the Yellow-and-Blues.

Home games are played at what is now the Polsat Plus Arena, opened in December 2008, just before the club itself arrived in the city. It holds 5,500 for basketball, but enough to have watched nine championship seasons pass through it.
