Start Lublin

The Globus Arena, named after Tomasz Wójtowicz, has 3,909 permanent seats and stretches to 4,500 when it is set up for events. Start Lublin, known as the Red-Blacks for their colours, play their home games there.

Their best years in the twentieth century came at the turn of the 1980s. Start won bronze in the Polish championship in 1979 and again in 1980, and had reached the Polish Cup final in 1978. In the 1979/80 season Kent Washington was named the league's most valuable player. It was the second of those two bronzes, and the club had already finished third once before, in 1965.

After 1980 the medals stopped for four decades. The next one was silver in 2020. Two more Polish Cup finals followed, in 2022 and 2023. In 2025 Start took silver in the championship for the second time and won the Polish Super Cup.

All of it traces back to 1953, when Miejski Klub Sportowy Start Lublin, a municipal sports club, was founded.
