The basketball wing of Club Social y Deportivo Colo-Colo grew up alongside the football side that gave it its name, though its own men's team did not take shape until the 1950s, with a women's branch already running since 1938. It has spent most of its life in Santiago being measured against Universidad Católica.
The record shows a club that has swung hard between contention and absence. Colo-Colo won the Dimayor title in 1996 and finished runner-up the following year. When it returned to the Liga Nacional de Básquetbol in 2014, it did not ease back in: within a year the club had the league title and the Copa Chile, both won in 2015. Money trouble sent it back down not long after, and Colo-Colo answered that the only way it could, winning Liga Dos in both 2023 and 2024 to force its way back to the top division.
Home games are played at Gimnasio CEO 2, in Ñuñoa, in front of no more than 3,000 people.
Among the names attached to that history, Claudio Soto's carries further than most inside the club, the kind of player whose time at Colo-Colo is still used as the reference point for what the team looked like when it mattered.
