Ivanka pri Dunaji Women

Ivanka pri Dunaji's under-14 girls went to Barcelona and won the Euro Youth Basketball Cup, then came back the following year and defended it. That result sits oddly against the senior side's own record: the women's team plays in the Tipos Extraliga, the top flight of Slovak women's basketball, and has spent its time there in the middle and lower reaches of the table, without a title to show for it.

The gap between the two makes more sense once the club's age is accounted for. Basketball had been played in the town since 1977, run through the local TJ sports organisation, before the club split off on its own in 1991 under the name BK Ivanka pri Dunaji. The academy built since then has kept producing results even where the first team has not: alongside the Barcelona wins, the under-12s took the Slovak championship and the under-17s finished third nationally. Vanda Kristlová came through that system and went on to play professionally in Belgium; Justína Tvrdá, another product of the youth setup, has been the senior side's leading scorer.

The women's team plays as Klokanky, the female form of Klokani — Kangaroos — the name the men's and youth sections carry too. Since September 2023 they have had a new hall to play in, built at the M.R. Štefánik school with close to a million euros from the state Sport Support Fund, replacing the more modest surroundings the club had made do with before.

In the Extraliga the club is up against established names such as MBK Ružomberok, Piešťanské Čajky and Slávia Banská Bystrica.
