Šamorínčanky are into another season of the Extraliga, the same top flight they have not dropped out of since 1994/95: fourth place, with a bronze medal match lost 0-2 to MBK Ružomberok, and a Slovak Cup run that also ended in fourth after a semifinal defeat to Piešťanské Čajky.

The club traces back to 1964, when it played as TJ Slávia Šamorín, and only took the ŠBK Šamorín name in 1991 once the political changes of the era allowed the re-registration. Nicolaus — before the club reverted to ŠBK Šamorín.

Timea Sujová is the name attached to the club's better years on court: three times the league's top scorer, a Slovak international who played at EuroBasket 2013, and a player who stayed at Šamorín from 2017 to 2023 before moving onto the bench, first as assistant and later as head coach. Albert Diósi had already put in years in that head coach's chair, including the 2019/20 season.
