JuVi Cremona

The PalaRadi seats 3,519, and the club that fills it today is a second founding of the one that first played in it. JuVi, short for Juventù e Vittoria, began in 1952 as a parish-style sports group and joined the Italian Basketball Federation two years later. Its first promotion came in 1962, when the shirts carried the name of a sponsor, the metalworks CBM.

Then the name went. In 2009 the senior side folded into a merger with Triboldi Soresina and became Vanoli Basket Cremona, which went on to play in Serie A. For five years there was no JuVi on the senior scene.

In 2014 the Ferraroni family, led by President Ettore Ferraroni, brought it back. The restart came in the Promozione, the eighth tier, and the club took the original gold and maroon with it. Promotion to Serie B followed in 2018. In 2022 it won the Serie B play-offs and went up to Serie A2, where it now plays under head coach Luca Bechi. Ferdinando Nasello and Enrico Gobbato are among the players who came through the years of the climb, and Eric Gerard Washington and Isiah Brown are among the more recent names.

The two Cremona clubs are separate, and the older one is the smaller. Vanoli kept the Serie A place; JuVi kept the founding date and the colours, which is why supporters still call the team the Gialloblu, the Yellow-Blues, even though the kit is gold and maroon.

Its rivalries are with neighbours along the Po. Pavia is the Derby del Po, Piacenza is the historical derby, Brescia is the Lombard one, and Varese comes into it too. In games like these the table goes out of the window.
