KK Triglav Kranj

Basketball in Kranj began in 1950 as a section of the sports society TVD Partizan Kranj. Four years on, the section broke away and took its own name, Triglav.

The white and blue side has never reached a Slovenian Premier League title or a national cup, and its record instead sits with the second tier. Dropping out of the top flight after the 2018/19 season, Triglav spent two years rebuilding in the 2. SKL before winning that division in 2021/22 and going back up — a repeat of what the club had already done in 2016/17, when the same promotion route worked the first time. Between those two campaigns lies the shape of the club.

What has held steadier is the academy. Triglav's youth sides have taken national titles at Sub-15, Sub-17 and Sub-19 level. Jaka Blažič passed through the same city's basketball culture before his career took him beyond Slovenia.

Home games are played in front of 800 people at the Planina hall. SKL carries as much tension as anything in the top division.
