Helios Domzale

Klemen Prepelič learned the game in Domžale before it took him abroad. The club took shape in 1949, when two secondary-school students, Brate Orehek and Vid Zule, put together what was then called Partizan-Domžale. There was a brief detour in 2014, when the club rebranded itself Helios Suns in a nod to Phoenix's franchise, before the old name returned in 2017; a further change followed the sale of Helios to the Japanese company Kansai Paint, which the club now carries in its own title.

Domžale's best spell came in the middle of the 2000s and again a decade on: the Slovenian league title in 2006–07, paired with the national cup that same season, and a second championship in 2015–16 that came with the Alpe Adria Cup.

The team still plays at home in the Športna dvorana Domžale, a hall holding 2,500, against opponents from Novo Mesto and Kranj in fixtures the local press simply calls the derby, without needing a name for them.
