Podcetrtek

Spring 2019, a basketball hall in a spa town of a few thousand people, and Podčetrtek closed out Celje 92:74 in the deciding match of the 2. SKL final to go back up a division after two years away. Rizman scored 35 in the second leg of that series and it still was not enough to settle it early; the title came down to the third match, with the captain, Strnad, leading the side back among the elite, as the local press put it at the time.

The club was founded in 1999 under the name KK Podčetrtek and has since grown into KK Terme Olimia Podčetrtek, tying its name to the thermal spa that gives the town its living. It plays out of the Podčetrtek sports hall on Zdraviliška cesta, a modest venue by the standards of the top flight, built to hold the town's own rather than away support in numbers.

Locally the team is known as Rdeči, the Reds, after the colour of the shirts, a name that circulates in match reports from Celje's papers more than in anything official. Promotion in 2019 remains the club's one clear mark on the Slovenian game, won against a side from Celje, the larger neighbouring town, and that match still gives the fixture between the two its edge whenever the draw brings them together — Podčetrtek the smaller club fighting for its place, Celje the one with the weight of the bigger town behind it.
