In the 2014/15 season Novosibirsk won both the Russian Cup and the Superleague. Sergei Tokarev, the point guard, was named most valuable player of the Cup Final Four and then of the Superleague itself. In Final Four's symbolic five he was joined by the centre Pavel Podkolzin, a product of the local basketball school, and by the forward Vitaly Ionov. Later that year the Croatian forward Jure Skifich was named the Superleague's best small forward.

The team that did this was only four years old. Its predecessor, Sibirtelecom-Lokomotiv, had played in the city since 1973 and folded over money. The new club was registered on 5 August 2011 and took over the place it left. It kept the honours for itself only from that date. Its first season, 2011/12, ended with third place in the Higher League, which was enough for promotion to the Superleague. Three years later it held the title.

The man in charge of the club for that whole stretch was Sergei Babkov, general director from 2011 to 2015. He had played for the old Lokomotiv, so he knew what had been lost. A tournament is held in his memory.

The Cup came back in 2017 for a second win. After that Novosibirsk took bronze in it in 2018 and again in 2019. Andrei Kirdyachkin, a forward who came up through the club's youth teams under the Sibirtelecom name, was called up to the Russia under-20 side.

The neighbours in Altai, Altaibasket, are the opponent this club is measured against. The two meet in what is called the Siberian derby, and neither side treats it as an ordinary fixture. Home games are played at the Sever sports complex, where the main hall seats 2,285.
