Tambov

The title that stands out is the Superliga-2 championship of 2016/17, which Tambov won by beating Dynamo Stavropol in the final. It had come from the First League, which the predecessor team under Viktor Kolodin won in 2009/10.

The Wolves waited five more seasons for the next medal, bronze in Superliga-2 in 2021/22. That result came shortly before their debut in Superliga-1, the second tier of Russian basketball, in 2022.

The team plays in white with red accents at home and in blue with white accents away. Its hall, the Universal Hall at the Sports and Training Center "Tambov" on Michurinskaya Street, seats 816. The main stand holds 554 and a transformable stand holds another 262. Tambov has no named basketball rival. The city's football club has its quarrel with Fakel Voronezh, and the basketball side is not part of it.

The present club dates from 30 August 2010, when the Tambov regional administration took over Kolodin's champions and made them a club. It did so because the previous team had stopped operating for lack of funding. Under coach Sergei Konotopov it became BC Tambov in 2006, and the name has stayed. Its first form was TSU-Basket, set up in 2003.
