Peiramatiko Machites

In May 2025, in the final of finals against Evropi '87, Peiramatiko Machites won promotion to the A2 Ethniki. Getting there had meant finishing first in the Northern Group of the National League 1 with 35 points, then edging past Niki Volou 2-1 in the semi-finals.

That formation came in July 2017, when two basketball sections in the Neapoli-Sykeon municipality of Thessaloniki, Machites Doxa Pevkon and Panathlitikos Peiramatiko Sykeon, merged into one club. The dark blue and yellow the team wears now were not chosen fresh; they came across from Machites Doxa Pevkon, whose own basketball section had carried them since 2012. The "Peiramatiko" in the name has nothing to do with Athens — it refers to the Experimental School of the University of Thessaloniki.

Home games are played at the Municipal Sports Center of Pefka, a hall that holds 350 people, which puts a hard ceiling on what a big night there can look like. The club traces its roots further back still, through Doxa Retzikiou, champions of Thessaloniki's A' Category in 2010-11, and through Machites Pevkon, promoted in 2011 — lineage that explains the name on the shirt more than any single trophy does.

An academy runs alongside the first team, taking players through the youth categories, but it has yet to produce a graduate whose name carries beyond Pefka.
