The route ran through Greece's third tier, the Γ' Εθνική, where Almyros of the same Karditsa region stood as the closest thing to a rival the club had.

Promotion first arrived in the 2022-2023 season, when Sofadon beat Almyros 78-64 in the playoff final to reach the National League 1 for the first time.

In 2024-2025, Sofadon won the second group of the National League 1 outright and beat Ethnikos Livanadias 3-1 in the playoff finals, a result that sent them up again, this time into the Elite League, the second tier of Greek basketball. Eudoxios Kapetakis, the league's top scorer that season, led a squad built on players who also turn out for AS Karditsas under dual registration. Christos Bountouris came through the same pathway into the Greek Youth National Team.
