Samara Women

Between 2004 and 2006 a Samara women's side won three Russian championships in a row, and in 2005 it added the FIBA Women's EuroLeague. It played as VBM-SGAU from 2001 to 2006. Its other honours were the Intercontinental Cup in 2003, the Women's World League in 2004 and 2005, and the Russian Cup in 2004 and 2006. Today's Samara carries none of those trophies as its own, and the club does not claim them as such. It is the city's current women's team, and that era is the standard the city measures it against.

The club's own history is short and has been reorganised more than once. The club website gives 2013 as the year it was founded, when the team was called Politekh Samara. It was registered as a women's club on 1 July 2022, and that is the date from which the present organisation counts.

Home games are played at the MTL Arena, which holds 2,200. Bigger fixtures can move to the Vysotsky Sports Palace, the city's large indoor hall. The colours are blue and white. The club has no nickname. It is not to be confused with the Tigresses of Ivanovo, who are often mentioned in the same breath.

The team enters the Premier League, the Russian Cup and the EWBL. In 2026 it finished third in the Chernomyrdin Cup. That is the most recent result the club can point to, and it is the base for this season's work in the league and the cup.
