Szolnoki Olajbanyasz

Nine championship banners hang for Szolnok, but the ninth arrived after a gap of seven years, in 2025. The run before it read almost without interruption: titles in 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2018.

The Magyar Kupa has been kinder still, won ten times, most recently in 2024. Budapesti Honvéd, the most decorated name in Hungarian basketball history, is the older rival, from the years before Szolnok's own trophy case filled up.

Europe offered a tougher lesson. In the 2014–15 EuroCup the club finished fifth in a group that included Khimki and Beşiktaş, taking three wins from ten games — a reminder of the gap between dominating at home and competing on the continent.

The team plays out of the Tiszaligeti Sportcsarnok, known locally as the Tiszavirág Aréna, in red and black. Among the players who came through the club's own system, Greg Somogyi is the name Szolnok points to first, a product of the same academy that has kept the roster stocked through nine league titles rather than built around imports.
