Tong Whye

Jurong knows Tong Whye first as a temple, built by Hokkien migrants in 1932, and only later as a team. The senior side that carries its name has stayed together for more than 40 years, several of its members now in their sixties.

That continuity has not translated into silverware. Tong Whye's best finish in the National Basketball League Division 1 came in 2023, when the club took third place; in 2024 it slipped to seventh, with three wins against six losses. In August 2025, the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau arrested nine people, among them players and a coach from Tong Whye, over suspected match-fixing tied to a game against Tagawa on 1 August, which Tagawa won 66–43. Two Tong Whye players were suspended by the Basketball Association of Singapore while the case was examined. The club's general manager, known by the surname Tan, said Tong Whye would cooperate fully with the authorities. The affair spread further when defending champions Adroit were found to have fielded suspended players, forcing the league to postpone its Division 1 final.

Through it, Tong Whye's youth sides, the Blue and the Dragon U16, have kept training under the Dragons' name. Its games are played at the Singapore Basketball Centre on Aljunied Avenue 1, the same building that houses the basketball association itself.
