Tagawa Basketball Association exists to give a group of players a team to register under, a founding member of the Basketball Association of Singapore's National Basketball League when it launched in 2011.

The club also signed up in 2015 for the Pro-Am Singapore Basketball League as one of its founding teams. Siglap, Adroit, Eng Tat Hornets, Min Yi, Xin Hua and SAFSA have taken turns lifting the NBL trophy since the league began; Tagawa has not been among them.

Games are played at the Singapore Basketball Centre, the Basketball Association of Singapore's own venue and the sport's de facto national home. In 2025 the club found itself named in match-fixing allegations connected to that season's NBL, though nobody at Tagawa was personally identified in the matter. Shanmugasadas Kumaresadas stood as a nominee for the BAS board that year with ties to the club.
