The Singapore Basketball Centre does not announce itself from the waterfront like its neighbour, the OCBC Arena at the Singapore Sports Hub. It sits behind a stretch of Aljunied Avenue 1, a concrete block with a seating gallery for spectators that offers little in the way of atmosphere beyond the squeak of trainers on the court. The building itself is functional, a no-nonsense structure that has served as the primary basketball facility in Singapore.

Inside, the distinction is immediate. The venue features two indoor hardwood courts, BAS1 and BAS2, both finished with varnished surfaces. The varnish is the point of contention; reports note issues with condensation and slipperiness requiring repainting, a problem that has seen the surface polished to a shine that sometimes outshines the play. It is a place where teams are expected to ground out the win on a floor that demands respect.

The SBC is the home of the National Basketball League, established in 2011, and the Women's National Basketball League. Current NBL teams include Adroit, Allinton Eng Tat Hornets, SG Basketball, and Tagawa, among others who play out their seasons here. Historically, it was the ground for the Singapore Slingers of the ASEAN Basketball League before their cessation. It also hosts Singapore National Teams for international friendlies, such as matches against Bangladesh and Hong Kong in 2019.

The venue is owned by Sport Singapore and leased to the Basketball Association of Singapore. While the OCBC Arena sits on the bay, this ground remains in Aljunied, a quiet corner for a sport that often feels overshadowed by the city’s larger sporting ambitions. It is not a temple of football or a grand theatre; it is a working court with a history of hosting the Under Armour 3x3 Southeast Asia 2017 Tournament and the FIBA 3x3 U18 Women's Invitation Tournament. The capacity is not documented in available sources.
