Siglap

Before the National Basketball League existed in its current form, Siglap was already turning out on court under the name of its neighbourhood, playing on year after year as one of the constants of Singapore club basketball even as the competition's structure shifted around it. No record fixes the year the club took shape, but by 2011, when the NBL launched its Division 1 as it is now known, Siglap was ready and won the inaugural title outright.

That first championship set the pattern rather than closing it out. Siglap added Division 1 titles in 2013 and again in 2019, when they beat Xin Hua Novu Blaze in the final and Vignesh Rengarajan was named MVP — a player who, along with teammates Delvin Goh, Jun Yuan Lim and Jonathan Cheok, went on to represent Singapore at national level. Three championships put the club ahead of every other side in the division's history.

The club has never carried a nickname beyond its own name, and it has needed none — Siglap is simply Siglap, home or away, whether the roster is listed under red or under blue.

Development has run alongside the senior side rather than behind it: under Tan Zhi Sen, Siglap's under-18 team won the 2022 Rigorer Youth Cup, and the women's game has its own thread through the club via Patricia Wu-Murad, who played for Siglap and is married to former national women's coach Kirk Murad.
