About the player
August Priske Flyger finished the 2025 Allsvenskan season as its joint top scorer, with 18 goals for Djurgårdens IF, and was named the league's Forward of the Year. That season led to Birmingham City signing him in January 2026, reportedly for around £6 million.
The route to Sweden was indirect. Born in Genk, he came through the youth ranks of Stensballe IK and AC Horsens before moving to FC Midtjylland in 2014. A year with F.C. Copenhagen followed in 2016–17, after which he returned to Midtjylland and stayed until 2021.
His senior football was played mostly away from Denmark. Midtjylland sent him on loan to Jong PSV, where he made 42 appearances and scored four goals between 2021 and 2023. A second loan, at FC Eindhoven in 2023–24, brought 27 appearances and three goals. His Superliga debut for Midtjylland came on 6 August 2023, against Lyngby Boldklub.
In August 2024 Djurgårdens IF signed him, reportedly for around €3.1 million. At 195 cm, he is right-footed.
Internationally, he has played for Denmark at U-18, U-19, U-20 and U-21 levels. He had won seven caps for the U-21 side by 2025.
