Jay Stansfield

Jay Stansfield scored the first goal of his senior career against Birmingham City. It came for Fulham in the EFL Cup in August 2021.

He had started out in the academy at Exeter City and moved to Fulham in August 2019. His first-team debut followed in the FA Cup in January 2020, and his league debut in the Championship came later that month. He played in the Premier League for the first time in August 2022.

Stansfield went back to Exeter for a season from September 2022, scored nine goals in 36 league appearances and won the EFL Young Player of the Month award for October. His first professional hat-trick came there, against Morecambe in May 2023.

In August 2023 he joined Birmingham on loan. He scored 12 goals in 43 league appearances and was named the club's Player of the Season for 2023–24. On 30 August 2024 Birmingham signed him permanently for a reported £15 million, rising to £20 million with incentives, a record fee in EFL League One at the time.

The 2024–25 season brought his first 20-goal campaign: 19 in the league and four in the EFL Trophy. Birmingham won the League One title and lost the EFL Trophy final, and Stansfield was named in the PFA League One Team of the Year.

He has played for England at U18, U20 and U21 levels. In 2025 he was in the England U21 squad that won the European Championship, and he started the final against Germany. He has not yet won a senior cap.
