James Giles Beadle

James Beadle was in goal for England's Under-21 side in the final of the 2025 European Championship in Slovakia, a 3–2 win over Germany. UEFA named him in the Team of the Tournament.

He spent nine years in Charlton Athletic's youth system, from 2013 to 2022, then turned down a professional contract there and moved to the Brighton & Hove Albion academy on a free transfer in January 2022. His first professional contract with Brighton followed in January 2023.

Regular senior football came through a run of loans. The first, at Crewe Alexandra in January 2023, ended in April when he injured an ankle against Colchester United. At Oxford United he played 25 league games between July 2023 and January 2024, then moved to Sheffield Wednesday, where he made 19 appearances in the first half of the 2023–24 season. He returned for the whole of 2024–25 and played 38 league matches.

Sheffield Wednesday beat Derby County 2–1 from behind in December 2024, and Beadle made several important saves, among them one to deny Jerry Yates.

In July 2025 he went on loan to Birmingham City for a season and played 35 league games. Brighton then signed him to a new four-year contract, running to June 2028, in July 2026. He went straight back to Birmingham on a second season-long loan. At 201 cm he is a tall goalkeeper, and Birmingham have now had him for two seasons in succession.
