About the player
Attila Fiola scored against France at Euro 2020, and Hungarian sport remembered it. In 2021 his performance at the tournament was named the Hungarian Sports Moment of the Year. He started all three of Hungary's group matches in that tournament.
It was his second European Championship. Five years earlier he had played in the opening group match against Austria at Euro 2016. He was in the squad again for Euro 2024, starting against Switzerland and Germany. His international debut came in 2014, and by March 2025 he had won 64 caps and scored twice. The first of those goals came in qualifying for the 2022 World Cup, against Andorra.
His club career began at Paksi FC, whose academy he joined in 2002. He made his senior debut in October 2009 and stayed until January 2015, when he moved to Puskás Akadémia on a free transfer.
The longest chapter followed in August 2016, when he signed for MOL Fehérvár, the club formerly known as Videoton. He stayed for eight years and became a key player and captain. Under his captaincy the club won the Hungarian championship in 2017–18 and the Hungarian Cup in 2018–19.
He left Fehérvár in August 2024 and joined Újpest on a free transfer.
