About the player
Born in Tours, Boris Popović came through the French club's academy before moving to AS Monaco in 2017, where he spent four years with the reserve side. His senior career took shape at Cercle Brugge, which he joined on a free transfer in the summer of 2021. He established himself as a regular starter there, making 97 league appearances and scoring four goals over three seasons, and the club's run in the 2022–23 Belgian Cup ended when they were knocked out by KAA Gent in the seventh round.
A reported €3 million move to Anderlecht in January 2024 did not go through, and Popović stayed at Cercle Brugge before joining Arouca on loan in September 2024. He made 16 league appearances during that spell, and the Portuguese club signed him permanently in June 2025 on a three-year contract.
Although born in France, Popović holds Serbian nationality and has represented the country at every youth level from under-17 to under-21, without yet featuring for the senior side. He wears the number 5 shirt at Arouca.
