About the player
Brian Mansilla came up through Peñarol's academy and made his first-team debut in April 2022. He stayed with the Montevideo club through 2023 and 2024, picking up the Uruguayan Primera División title in 2023 and the Supercopa Uruguaya in both 2023 and 2024. A loan spell at Defensor Sporting in 2024 gave him regular football, 32 league appearances and four goals, and ended with a Copa Uruguay win.
His time at Peñarol was not without setbacks. Playing in the Copa Sudamericana against Defensa y Justicia, he suffered a serious knee injury and had to be substituted after just 15 minutes.
In January 2025, Mansilla moved to Portugal on loan to Arouca, with the deal structured around a mandatory purchase clause: an €800,000 fee that would trigger if Arouca avoided relegation and he featured in at least 60% of the club's remaining matches. He made his debut for the club on 15 February 2025 against Sporting CP. Arouca duly activated the clause on 1 July 2025, signing the Uruguayan forward permanently and tying him to a three-year contract carrying a €15 million release clause.
