About the player
Danny McNamara's football education started at Charlton Athletic, where he joined the club's Advanced Centre at the age of seven and stayed until he was fourteen. After a spell at Corinthian, he joined Millwall's academy in 2015 and signed his first professional contract there in July 2017.
He had short stints at Welling United, Dover Athletic and Havant & Waterlooville, then a longer run at Newport County, where he made 21 league appearances. St Johnstone took him to Scotland in July 2020, and he made 22 league appearances there before the loan was cut short and he returned to Millwall in January 2021.
In July of this year he returned to where his career began, joining Charlton Athletic on a free transfer on a two-year deal.
Internationally, McNamara qualifies for the Republic of Ireland through his grandparents. He has represented the Under-21s at that level, earning two caps, and has been named in provisional squads for the senior side.
