Conor Coventry

Conor Coventry spent most of his development at West Ham United, having joined the club's academy at the age of ten. He signed his first professional contract there in May 2018 and was named the club's Academy Player of the Year for the 2017–18 season.

Instead, his education came through a string of loans. Spells at Lincoln City and Peterborough United gave him regular football in League One and the Championship, and it was at Milton Keynes Dons, in the first half of 2022, that he had his most productive run: 22 appearances, his first senior goal against Crewe Alexandra, and a run to the League One play-off final. A further loan at Rotherham United followed in 2023. In January 2024, with his development stalled at West Ham, the move to Charlton Athletic became permanent, on a three-and-a-half-year contract reported at around £1 million.

Coventry's other strand of progress has run through the Republic of Ireland set-up. He captained the under-21s, scored a penalty against Italy's under-21 side, and was named FAI Under-21 International Player of the Year in 2021. He has since earned three senior caps, having made his debut in March 2021, after coming through the Irish youth ranks from under-17 to under-21 level.
