Jayson Patrick Molumby

Jayson Molumby's route to West Bromwich Albion ran through three loan spells before the club decided to make the arrangement permanent. Brighton & Hove Albion signed him from Railway Athletic and brought him through their youth ranks, and he made his senior debut for the Seagulls in 2017 in the EFL Cup and the Premier League. Rather than establishing himself at the Amex, he was sent out to Millwall and then Preston North End, before a loan to West Brom in August 2021 turned into the defining move of his career. The Baggies included an option to buy in that loan agreement, and they exercised it in May 2022, with the transfer completed that July for a reported fee of around £900,000.

At The Hawthorns, Molumby became a fixture in the midfield and was voted West Bromwich Albion's Supporters' Player of the Season for 2022–23. That campaign brought his biggest moments in an Albion shirt: he scored in the Championship play-off semi-final against Sheffield Wednesday and started the final against Southampton, though West Brom did not go up.

Molumby has also built a senior international career with the Republic of Ireland, making his debut in a Nations League match against Finland and going on to earn 36 caps. His development was flagged early, too — he was named FAI Under-16 International Player of the Year, and he won the Sussex Senior Challenge Cup and the Premier League 2 Division Two title during his time in Brighton's academy sides.
