About the player
Manning is a product of local football around Galway, working through Cregmore/Claregalway and Maree/Oranmore before senior football at Mervue United, where 26 appearances were enough to attract a move to Galway United. That switch paid off quickly: he was part of the side that won promotion through the League of Ireland First Division play-offs, a result that took him to England within months, when Queens Park Rangers signed him in January 2015.
His development continued away from Loftus Road. A loan at Rotherham United brought 18 appearances and four goals, all penalties, before Steve McClaren recalled him to shore up a squad hit by injuries.
That form led to a free transfer to Southampton in July 2023.
At Southampton, Manning was part of the squad that won the 2024 EFL Championship play-off final, sealing promotion to the Premier League. Internationally, his path ran through the Republic of Ireland's underage sides at U17, U19 and U21 level before a first senior cap, and he had earned 23 caps as of March 2026.
