About the player
Darío Benavides Fuentes came through the Sevilla academy after starting out at Polideportivo Ejido and CD Oriente and passing through UD Almería's youth ranks. He made his senior debut with Sevilla C in the 2022–23 Tercera Federación, scoring twice in 15 appearances, before stepping up to Sevilla Atlético the same season.
That move to Sevilla B proved the making of him. In 2024–25, playing regularly for Sevilla B in the Primera Federación, he became the last player from the province of Almería to debut in La Liga.
In June 2025 the defender left Sevilla on a free transfer for RAAL La Louvière in the Belgian Pro League, signing through to 2027/2028. A year later, in July 2026, he moved on again, this time to FC Dinamo București in Romania on a deal running to June 2028 with a club option for a further season. The fee for that transfer was not disclosed.
Benavides has not been capped by any Spain national team.
