David Amegnaglo

Amegnaglo was born in Caen but has come to be identified as Togolese rather than French, and although he passed through France's youth pathway he never featured for a French age-group side at any level between U17 and U21. His football education ran through some of Germany's biggest academies: he joined Bayern Munich's youth ranks before turning fifteen, moved on to SpVgg Unterhaching, and then to SC Freiburg's youth setup, where his finishing began to stand out. In the 2023/24 season he scored 18 goals in 24 matches for Freiburg's A-Junioren in the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg and got on the scoresheet in the DFB-Junioren-Pokal final against Hoffenheim.

He carried that form into senior football with SC Freiburg II in the Regionalliga Südwest, scoring seven goals in 26 appearances in his first season and following it with 13 in 31 the year after — 20 goals in 57 matches for the reserve side in total.

That record earned him a move to Belgium, where KVC Westerlo signed him from Freiburg on a four-year contract. He has yet to add a senior international cap or a major title to his record, but he arrives at Westerlo with a scoring habit built up over two full seasons in Germany's fourth tier, and the club will be hoping he can translate it into Belgian first-division football.
