Dilan Kumar Markanday

Dilan Markanday was the first player of Indian descent to appear for Tottenham Hotspur's men's first team in a competitive match, making his debut on 21 October 2021 in a UEFA Europa Conference League tie against Vitesse. He left the club permanently a few months later, joining Blackburn Rovers for a reported fee of £500,000 upfront, with add-ons that could take the deal beyond £1 million.

His time at Blackburn was disrupted almost immediately: he suffered a long-term hamstring injury on his debut in August 2022. A loan to Aberdeen the following January brought little relief — three appearances in the Scottish Premiership, a spell he later described as the hardest period of his career. At Chesterfield in 2024–25 he made 22 League Two appearances and scored six goals, before Blackburn recalled him in January 2025 and sent him straight back out on loan, this time to Leyton Orient in League One. There he scored his first goal for the club in a 2–0 win over Reading on 25 January 2025, part of a run that took Orient to the League One play-off final.

When his Blackburn contract expired in May 2025, Markanday returned to Chesterfield on a permanent basis, signing a three-year deal that summer. He holds an Overseas Citizen of India card but has not represented a senior national team.
