Evert Linthorst

Evert Linthorst came through the youth ranks at Venlosche Boys before spells at VVV-Helmond and PSV, eventually returning to Venlosche Boys and then signing his first professional contract with VVV-Venlo in 2017. He made his Eredivisie debut for the club in April 2018 and stayed with VVV-Venlo until early 2021, when he left on a free transfer to Al-Ittihad Kalba in the United Arab Emirates. He made around fifteen appearances without a goal before he returned to the Netherlands in January 2022 to join Go Ahead Eagles.

It was at Go Ahead Eagles that Linthorst's career took shape. He scored his first professional goal for the club during the 2024–25 Eredivisie season, and that campaign became the high point of his time in Deventer. In the KNVB Cup final against AZ Alkmaar on 21 April 2025, he started as the central defensive midfielder. The match finished 1–1 after extra time, and Go Ahead Eagles won the shootout 4–2. Linthorst had already been substituted in the 80th minute, but he still stepped up to take a penalty in the shootout — and scored it, helping his side lift the trophy.

The following month, Go Ahead Eagles rewarded him with a contract extension that ties him to the club until the middle of 2028.
