Gethin Wynne Jones

Gethin Wynne Jones is an Australian professional footballer who plays as a right-back for Milton Keynes Dons. Born in Perth, he carries Welsh heritage and switched from the Welsh youth setup to the Australian senior national team. He made his senior debut for Australia in January 2024 and has since earned six caps, including time at the 2023 AFC Asian Cup and World Cup qualifiers.

His career began at Wrexham’s youth academy before a move to Everton’s system in 2008. He remained with the Merseyside club for a decade, eventually winning the Premier League 2 title with the U21 side in 2016–17. During his time there, he received Everton’s Goal of the Season award in 2011–12. The move to the first team was not immediate; he spent loan spells at Plymouth Argyle and Barnsley to gain experience.

After leaving Everton, he joined Fleetwood Town on a free transfer. A brief loan at Mansfield Town followed before he signed for Carlisle United on a short-term deal. His most significant period came at Bolton Wanderers, where he spent five years. He made 163 league appearances for the Trotters and scored six goals. The highlight of his Bolton career arrived in the 2022–23 season when he won the EFL Trophy, scoring in the 4–0 final victory over Plymouth Argyle.

Jones joined Milton Keynes Dons in 2025 on a free transfer. He has made 35 league appearances for the club and added one goal to his tally. He stands 1.78 m tall and prefers his right foot.
