Marvin Ekpiteta

Marvin Ekpiteta’s rise through the English football pyramid is defined by persistence rather than early stardom. The centre-back left Enfield for Oxford United’s youth setup at the age of sixteen, but it was during a stint at Chelmsford City that he truly found his footing in senior football. Making 58 appearances for the Essex side, he proved his worth before moving through the non-league ranks at Concord Rangers and East Thurrock United.

His career turned in 2018 when he joined Leyton Orient. He became a key figure for the club, making 74 appearances and scoring six goals. His time there culminated in winning the National League Championship, securing promotion to EFL League Two. He also reached the FA Trophy final that same season, marking a peak in his development as a player.

A free transfer to Blackpool in 2020 marked his entry into the EFL proper. Over four seasons, he made 124 appearances and scored nine goals. His standout season came in 2021–22 in the Championship, where he scored five goals and won both the Fans’ Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season awards.

In 2024, he moved to Hibernian on a three-year deal, making 13 appearances before signing for Milton Keynes Dons in August 2025. As of September 2026, he has made 41 appearances for MK Dons, scoring six goals. He helped the club finish as League Two runners-up in 2025–26, earning promotion to League One.

Ekpiteta has represented England at the semi-professional level and Nigeria at the youth level. He trained with the Nigeria U20 'Flying Eagles' in 2013 before the FIFA U20 World Cup but was not selected for the final squad. He made his debut for England C in 2018.
