George Long

George Long came up through Sheffield United's academy and made his senior debut in 2011, spending seven years at the club interspersed with loan spells at Oxford United, Motherwell and AFC Wimbledon. At Motherwell in 2015 he made 15 appearances and helped the club stay up via the Scottish Premiership play-offs, while at AFC Wimbledon he was a regular over two seasons, making 49 appearances. His early promise at Sheffield United was recognised with the Football League One Player of the Month award in October 2012 and the Football League Young Player of the Month award in February 2013.

He left Sheffield United on a free transfer for Hull City in 2018 and made 57 league appearances there over three years, including the 2020–21 campaign in which Hull won the EFL League One title. A further free transfer took him to Millwall in 2021, where he made 36 league appearances, before he signed for Norwich City in August 2023.

In August 2025 he moved to Southampton on a season-long loan from Norwich City, and in June 2026 the move was made permanent on a two-year deal. At Southampton he has served as the second-choice goalkeeper behind Daniel Peretz.

Internationally, Long represented England at Under-20 level at the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Turkey and was called up to the Under-21 squad the same year, though he did not earn a senior cap.
