Harvey Knibbs

Charlton spent about £1.8 million on Harvey Knibbs in August 2025, signing him to a four-year deal, and he scored on his debut, in a 1–0 win over Watford.

Knibbs, born in Bristol, joined Nottingham Forest's academy at nine and stayed until he was 14, before Aston Villa took him on. He spent seven years there, signing his first professional contract in 2017 and winning the Premier League Cup with the club's under-23 side that season, but he was never handed a senior debut and was released without one.

The breakthrough came at Cambridge United, whom he joined on a free transfer in 2019. Over four seasons he made 156 appearances and scored 26 goals, and was part of the side that won promotion from League Two to League One. He was named the club's Player of the Month in September 2022.

A second free transfer, to Reading in 2023, produced his best return yet: 100 appearances and 32 goals, including a hat-trick against Swindon Town in the EFL Trophy. He became the first Reading player since the 2005–06 season to score 15 or more goals in consecutive campaigns.

He has yet to win a senior England cap. His twin brother, Alex Knibbs, competes in track and field.
