About the player
In 2019–20 Jean-Pierre Nsame scored 32 goals in the Swiss Super League and finished as its top scorer. He was named the league's Player of the Year that season and again in 2020–21. The forward went on to take the top-scorer award three times in all, adding 2020–21 and 2022–23.
The Swiss chapter began in 2016 with Servette FC, who paid a reported €900,000 for him. Nsame had come through the youth system at Angers SCO, made 23 senior appearances there and spent loan spells at USJA Carquefou and Amiens SC. In the Challenge League he scored 23 goals in 2016–17 and won the division's top-scorer award. He joined BSC Young Boys in July 2017.
Young Boys were where he won most of his honours: five Swiss league titles (2017–18, 2018–19, 2019–20, 2020–21 and 2022–23) and two Swiss Cups (2019–20 and 2022–23). He was also the Swiss Cup's top scorer twice, and the league's Goal of the Year in both 2016–17 and 2017–18. In January 2022 he was loaned to Venezia FC.
His goals in Switzerland brought him level with a record. On 9 February 2025 he scored twice against FC Zurich to reach 111 Super League goals, the same total as Marco Streller.
Nsame moved to Como 1907 in January 2024. That June he joined Legia Warszawa on loan with an obligation to buy, and the club took up the option in January 2025.
For Cameroon he won four caps between 2017 and 2022 and was in the squad for the 2022 World Cup.
