Kellyn Kai Perry-Acosta

Kellyn Acosta won the MLS Cup and the MLS Supporters' Shield with Los Angeles FC in 2022. He then went to the World Cup with the United States later that year.

Acosta grew up in the FC Dallas Academy, where he spent four years from 2009. He was named U.S. Soccer Development Academy Central Conference Player of the Year for 2011–12. He signed as a homegrown player in July 2012 and made his senior debut in August 2013. He stayed until July 2018, with 117 league appearances and nine goals. Along the way he won the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in 2016 and was an MLS All-Star in 2016 and 2017.

Colorado Rapids then acquired him in a trade. Dallas received Dominique Badji, a 2019 first-round draft pick and international roster spots. Acosta made 79 league appearances and scored seven goals in Colorado. In January 2022 he moved to Los Angeles FC, where he played 56 league games and scored twice. Chicago Fire signed him as a free agent in February 2024. His role diminished under coach Gregg Berhalter, and the contract was ended by mutual consent in January 2026.

For the national team, Acosta made his debut against Iceland on 31 January 2016 and has won 58 caps. His two goals came against Ghana in 2017 and Colombia in 2018. He was in the squads that won the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2017 and 2021 and the CONCACAF Nations League in 2019/20. In 2021 he was a nominee for U.S. Soccer Male Player of the Year.

In January 2026 he moved to Europe, joining Pogoń Szczecin on a free transfer. His contract runs to 30 June 2027, with an option for one more season.
