About the player
On 25 April 2021, aged 16 years and 150 days, he scored on his first appearance for FC Volendam, becoming the youngest player to score on debut in Dutch football since Henk Vos in 1984. He had worked his way up through Volendam's youth ranks, having joined the club from amateur football in 2017.
He went on to make his mark for Jong FC Volendam before AZ Alkmaar paid around €500,000 for him in January 2024 and tied him to a contract running until June 2029. He made only three first-team appearances and two for Jong AZ across the 2024–25 season, and he was sent out on loan to OH Leuven in January 2025, where he made 16 appearances. Further loan spells followed, first to Heracles Almelo and then to Fortuna Sittard in 2026.
Zeefuik did pick up a first major honour along the way, winning the KNVB Cup with AZ Alkmaar in the 2025–26 season. He made his debut for the Netherlands under-21 side on 27 March 2026 against Norway.
